Updates to the Dyslexia Handbook by the State Board of Education

At the State Board of Education committee meetings last week there were small changes to the Dyslexia handbook, the committee approved them unanimously with no controversy. For your reference, the current handbook can be downloaded as a PDF from here

New Legislative Tracker for TEDA Members!

In order for TEDA Members to follow all of the twists and turns with what is expected to be an exciting legislative session, we have included a “Legislative Tracker” on the TEDA website under the Government Relations tab. You can go to it now by clicking here. It contains a list of bills that TEDA is currently following, as well as a link to all the information about the bill, including the complete text, history, and current status in the Legislature.

It's Time to Renew your Membership and EPLI!

TEDA Membership and the Educators Professional Liability Insurance both expire July 31!  Renew your membership and EPLI now to avoid a lapse in coverage.

You must be an “Active” member of TEDA and an employee of a School District to be eligible for EPLI Option 1.  You can join online or complete the membership form and return with a check made payable to TEDA.

Remember:  if you are renewing your EPLI Option 1 before July 31st, 2011, the new policy will begin on August 1st, 2011 and will extend through July 31st, 2012.

Don’t let your coverage lapse; renew your membership and EPLI today!

Conference Transportation Information Now Available

Conference Handouts Now Available!

Conference Handouts Now Available. Are you going to the TEDA Conference on South Padre Island April 7-9?  Now you can check out the handouts the presenters have prepared for you!  All you have to do is print out the ones you want!  It is best to access the handouts from a web browser other than Internet Explorer as it sometimes cannot process recent Microsoft Office documents.  Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome work great!  If you have problems just email our office.  We look forward to seeing you in South Padre!

STAAR News.  TEA has posted updated information about STAAR.  You can find the information on the TEA Correspondence website listed under the 4/25/2011 date, or on the TEA Student Assessment Correspondence with Districts page listed as 4/22/2011.  A printable Microsoft Word document is available here.  Keep up to date with the latest information!
