Officer Duties
President-Elect:
Elected for three (3) consecutive one-year terms that include the offices of President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President.
Duties of President-Elect:
- Serve in the place and with the authority of the President in his/her absence.
- Serve as a liaison to the Annual Conference Committee, notify the chairperson and/or designee of the TEDA Board meetings, and receive and disseminate the complete reports.
- Serve as a member of the Executive Board.
- Serve as a liaison to the Organizational Affairs Committee and receive and disseminate the completed reports.
- Prepare the annual budget for presentation to the Executive Board.
- Be in charge of recruitment and public relations.
- Serve a term of one year.
Duties of President:
- Serve as chief executive of the Association with the powers and duties belonging to the office.
- Give professional leadership to the Association.
- Call and preside at meetings of the Executive Board and the Executive Committee.
- Call and preside at meetings of the general membership.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee.
- Recommend to the Executive Board the standing and temporary committee chairpersons.
- Prepare an annual report to be distributed to all interested parties.
- Be the official representative to other organizations and serve as a non-voting ex-officio member of the Texas Professional Educational Diagnosticians’ Board of Registry.
- Appoint an audit committee consisting of three members from the general membership.
- Make necessary arrangements for housing, meeting places, times, and other necessities for TEDA meetings.
Duties of Past President:
- Serve as Chairperson of the Nominating committee.
- Present to the Executive Board, the Nominating Committee’s report, at least sixty (60) days prior to the election.
- Maintain a file of the current Bylaws and Standing Rules.
- Serve as parliamentarian at all Executive Board meetings, Executive Committee meetings, and General Assemblies of TEDA.
- Responsible for arranging installation of incoming officers at the Executive Committee Meeting.
- Serve as a member of the Executive Board.
- Serve a term of one year.
Office of Vice-President:
- Serve as a member of the Executive Board.
- Serve in the place and with the authority of the President in the absence of the President and President-Elect.
- Serve as the DiaLog editor.
- May appoint a co-editor with board approval.
- Publish the DiaLog a minimum of two times annually.
- Solicit appropriate professional material for each publication.
- Solicit, with prior approval from the Executive Board, appropriate advertising.
- Distribute to and receive, from any group of Educational Diagnosticians desiring affiliation with TEDA, petitions for chapter membership.
- Serve as a member of the DiaLog Editorial Board.
- Maintain communication in a timely manner (respond to phone and email messages) within 5 business days.
- Serve a term of two years.
Office of Treasurer:
- Serve as a member of the Executive Board.
- Serve as custodian of the funds of the Association.
- Disperse monies for expenses approved by the Executive Board and on the authorization of the President.
- Provide the President-Elect with a financial statement for preparation of the annual budget.
- Submit to the Audit Committee a record of all monies received and expended.
- Transfer all records and monies to the new Treasurer.
- Maintain communication in a timely manner (respond to phone and email messages) within 5 business days.
- Serve a term of two years.
Office of Recording Secretary:
- Obtain records from previous secretary.
- Serve as a member of the Executive Board. Serve a term of two years.
- Keep careful records of all meetings.
- Keep accurate rolls of membership and officers as well as committee chairpersons and members.
- Take care of organization correspondence.
- Attend all meetings.
- Fulfill any other duty assigned by the President.
- Serve a term of two years.
State Membership Secretary:
- Receives the Membership Application.
- Records the date received, check number and the amount of the check.
- Enters membership information into computer database.
- Sends membership card and insurance summary information to members.
- Generates Membership Lists and sends to state Treasurer.
- Generates Insurance Lists.
- Quarterly sends Insurance Company a list of members taking insurance.
